Halloween Costumes 2012
Aren't they cute?
So this year for Halloween I have a vampire and a kitty. I really wanted them to coordinate since this is Sofia's first Halloween with a sister and Hazel's first Halloween ever... I guess I will have to wait. Last weekend we took Sofia to see Hotel Transylvania and she really wanted to be a vampire. And our Hazel is a kitty and this costume is very appropriate for her because she was a newborn she would make kitty sounds.
Happy Halloween!

B&M
A little update on us-
Lately I've only been posting pictures of our lovely girls.
Here's the latest pictures of us.
We pretty much still look the same. (or at least I think we do)
Brian- still writing songs, playing Xbox, working at LVM, loving his girls, driving his jeep, taking his wife out on dates..
Monica- stay at home mom, shopping a lot, working out a lot, training for the color run, loving the girls, going to zumba, and learning to cook more and more
But most importantly, we're still madly, deeply, crazy in love with each other :)

First Field Trip
When: October 25th, 2012
Where: Schnepf Farms
Class: Mrs. Downs
Age: 5
Sofia is officially a big girl! She went on her first field trip ever and rode a school bus! She came home telling me how much fun she had. She even said Schnepf Farms is 100 times more fun than Disneyland. (exaggerating much?) Unfortunately I didn't go with her. Mrs. Downs said only 5 parents from each kindergarten class was allowed to go. There are 22 kids in Sofia's class and 19 parents volunteered, and I wasn't lucky enough to go... Anyways, on Thursday CTA had their bus evacuation drill. Keep in mind this is Sofia's first time on a bus. The kids were told about bus accidents and had a drill on how to evacuate the bus. On Friday Sofia woke up so happy because it was field trip day. She got ready so fast and told me to go to the school to say bye to her. I did. When I got there I told her to have fun. Then she got on the bus and as the buses were ready to go, Sofia's bus door opened and Mrs. Down got off with Sofia. Sofia was bawling. She was terrified of the bus. She would not let go of me. Mrs. Down said they needed to get going and took Sofia with her. As I see the bus leave, I can see Sofia through the window crying and Mrs. Downs sitting right next to her. When Sofia came home she told me the field trip was fun, but the bus was very scary. She kinda reminded me of Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus.. It's safe to say Sofia wont be riding a bus anytime soon.

Serving Others- Sofia Style
Serving others allows us to touch the lives of people we don't even know, and it also brings joy to our lives. About a week and a half ago Sofia and I thought it would be a great idea to give out candy to kids walking to seminary. My sister came with us to help out with Hazel and the four of us had so much fun! We live in the Chandler School District therefore we wanted a Chandler high school. Unfortunately Chandler was still on break and so we went to Higley High School. Going to Higley High School was a good choice. Sofia's first dance recital was at the Higley High School Performing Arts and Brian graduated there too. Anyways, we went to the seminary building and asked if it was OK with them if Sofia sat in the parking lot and gave kids candy, and they said yes. Sofia opened 2 bags of candy and put them in a bowl. She patiently waited for kids to come. When the kids started coming Sofia started yelling "free candy! free candy!" Some kids came right away and some asked her why she was giving out candy. Sofia simply said "for fun." (Serving others is fun!) The funny part was when Sofia chased some boys down the parking lot so they'd get their candy.. it was hilarious. When she ran out of candy we got in our car and came back home. Sofia thanked me and told me she had a lot of fun giving the kids candy because they were surprised. I asked her if she wanted to do more random acts of kindness, and of course she said yes. We have planned what we want to do for our next service projects... Let me tell you, my daughter has some fun ideas!!

Hard to believe she's going to be 5.
Tomorrow my little miss will be five. It's hard to believe how fast time has flown by. Sofia has changed so much and has grown to be an adorable little girl. She is so beautiful on the outside and on the inside. She's very kind, smart, talented, caring, playful, beautiful.. I'm so proud of her. Since she was a little baby I knew there was something extremely special about her, and now that she's older I know what it is about her that makes her so special, and that is the love she has for others. Sofia is the type of girl likes to say hi to people and talk to them, she loves having friends, and she is very sympathetic when others are in pain. She also has a very good memory and remembers everything and everyone. She's good at making people laugh.. Oh Sofia, she's a joy!
Here are some of the things Sofia learned before turning 5
Here are some of the things Sofia learned before turning 5

- skip count in 10's to 100 and in 5's to 100
- can tell time on a clock
- can read (slowly, but she's reading)
- knows her colors in English and Spanish
- knows The Pledge of Alligiance
- tap dancing
