First day of first grade.

My precious Sofia started school today. She was so happy to go back to school. My girl loves school, she loves to learn and try new things. When we got to school she seriously said hi to every one she knew. Sofia is so friendly, and she told me she was ready to make new friends. I know she will have an amazing school year!

Locks of Love.

Sofia saw a St. Jude's commercial on TV and started asking why the kids were bald. I told her those kids had cancer and that they lost their hair. She felt so bad for those kids and wished there was a way she could help. After weeks of letting her hair grow out we finally had 10+ inches to cut.

Aunt Kiki cut Sofia's hair! She did an awesome job!! :)

Birthday Wishlist 2013

Dear Brian:
You always ask what I want for my birthday.
Here's a very simple list.
I'm not asking for much, especially since we're saving up for our 5th year anniversary getaway to.. I better not say it {I don't want to jinx it}.

Item #1- an Anthropologie swimsuit. I love Anthropologie!

Item #2- Hope in a jar is a must! I don't want to get wrinkles anytime soon.
 Item #3- Armani Code was the perfume I had on all the time when we were dating!

 And finally item #4- a Michael Kors purse. I would love to own a Michael Kors purse. They're so pretty and perfect and they're a necessity in my life. But I put it at the end of the list so we can save up for our super awesome trip...

Hint: Please don't get me anything cooking related.
Thanks!

Independence Day

This year we had an awesome Independence Day.
First, we had red, white, & blue pancakes at my in-law's house.
After having breakfast with the best in-law's in the world, we went shoe shopping for Brian and Sofia. {unfortunately they're sizes were out of stock on the shoes they wanted}
Then we went to play a little bit of volleyball with my old ward.
After playing volleyball we went to the movies and to see Despicable Me 2.
Then we came home and took naps and after naps we went swimming at my in-law's house.
When we were done swimming we went to my parents house to light up some sparklers and to see Schnepf Farms fireworks show. {my mom's backyard had the perfect view}

To finish off the 4th of July weekend, we went to Texas Roadhouse!
Yes, this was the perfect way to end a perfect holiday with my awesome family.

American

Last Friday {June 28th} I was sworn in as an American Citizen!
This 4th of July will have more meaning for me because I finally get to celebrate it as an American.
 I'm so glad I was awarded citizenship, it was a long journey but worth every second.
I was chosen to speak at the ceremony about the American Dream!! Yes, an impromptu speech. There were four of us who spoke to the crowd, and I was the only one from Mexico who was chosen. (I'm so glad I took a public speaking class in college, it really did help me). I don't remember exactly what I said, but my message was that being awarded citizenship wasn't the end of our journey, it was the beginning to a new life. I told the people there to keep searching for what they want because this is the country of opportunities and where all the dreams come true. After the ceremony was over many people, including the judge congratulated me and said they liked my speech. I felt so special.

 My in-laws organized a party in my honor to celebrate my award. I felt so loved :) I also ate ribs. I've never had ribs in life and I ate some on Saturday and I liked them. I'm assuming this comes with being American.

 And to Brian- my biggest supporter ever- I love you! THANK YOU for all that you've done for me. I am the luckiest and most loved girl in this world.
