Busy with school.

Lately I've been so busy with school... I feel like all I do is take a test, finish a lab, or turn in an essay... I'm busy with school. Very busy.. but I do find time in my day to snuggle up with my baby!

He's gone!

Last Saturday we saw the moving truck drive off with all of The Stewart's belongings. It hurt to see them leave. They were awesome neighbors, always willing to help. They had 4 kids, 3 of them went to CTA and they walked Sofia to school. On Tuesdays I would pick up Elijah from school and on Wednesdays I would drop him off. I'm going to miss his stories....

Weeks before they moved Sofia was crying because she was scared Elijah was going to forget what she looked like. She kept going on by saying that it brakes her heart they were not going to go to the same high school... Elijah and Sofia spent so much time together before he moved. They would go on bike rides, to the park, and sometimes they would sweep my driveway. I will never forget the morning we came home from a Valentine's photo shoot, Sofia was wearing a lace romper, and Elijah knew everything about girls dressing modestly. Elijah was riding his bike right outside our house when Sofia stepped out of the car and said "Hi Elijah!!! I did a photo shoot!" and Elijah said "Wearing that?! You don't look modest!" I laughed so hard. He even went on telling her she couldn't play with them until she changed.

The Stewart's will definitely be missed! These past few days I've been missing the knock on my door with Parker saying "Hi Sister Mortensen, is Sophie ready?" I hope I see those kids again!

And today...

I am glad in live in AZ where spring is just perfect enough for me to take my sweet Hazel to the park.

Brian married a Mexican.

My sweet husband can't complain about me because I brought some color into his life hahahahaha!!!! Yesterday Mexico and US played a World Cup qualifying game and the atmosphere at home was very competitive. He roots for US and I root for Mexico and in the end we still love each other. He likes to remind me about the times US won and I like to remind him that Mexico is better at soccer. Brian loves being married to a Mexican and I love being married to my gringo!

Phoenix Childrens Museum- Spring Break 2013

The Mortensen's have a new family tradition- going to the Phoenix Children's Museum during spring break. My girls love that place! It was the first time Brian went with us and the girls just loved having him there- specially me. Hazel is 9 months old, but thinks she's 5 just like her sister. She just wanted to be "running" around with the other kids. Quality family time is the best!

man + woman = marriage

So I posted this picture on Facebook yesterday and I had a few people getting "offended" ... I don't know why they got offended for the way I think marriage should be. A teacher from high school sent me a private message and told me to think about what I'm posting because I can't control love. Does that picture control love? All I did was post a picture, never did I say gay people can't love each other or that they can't be together. All I did was post a picture of a man and a woman because that's what I THINK marriage should be. Is that bullying? No, it's my opinion!! Did I point any fingers or call out gay people telling them I think they're wrong? NO! I didn't. I don't see why people would freak out and attack me, I'm not attacking them, I'm just saying what I think. Am I being disrespectful? I don't think so. I was also told I'm pushing my religion on people and that I don't support same sex marriage because I'm Mormon. WHOA!! Calm down everyone. I don't support it and I'm not against it either. I respect your life and your choices, you respect mine. And I honestly don't care if people don't like what I post, it's my Facebook and it's my opinion, and it's my life. And I know gay people are fighting for equal rights and I'm glad they are. Love is love. My opinion is my opinion and if you don't like it OH WELL! I like my opinion and that's that. I just want people to understand that I don't care if they support gay marriage or if gay marriage is legal because that will NEVER ever ever change the way I think marriage should be. Once again, this does not mean I think gay people shouldn't be together or love each other. ARE WE CLEAR??? And I have gay friends and I respect them for fighting for their rights, I really do and I want them to find their happiness.. but to me, marriage is between a man and a woman and I want them to respect what I believe. The end.

Star Student Sofia

Sofia was Star Student the week before spring break started. She LOVED being start student, she loved bringing Freedom Bear home, but what she loved the most was all the attention. On Friday, March 1st, Sofia came home with Freedom Bear and a folder saying what was going to happen all week {estimation jar, all about me poster, favorite toy}. There was also a journal for Sofia had to write her Freedom Bear adventures. That Friday we bought our highlander, so just imagine all the fun things Sofia wrote on the journal.

We told our families that Sofia was start student and invited them to have lunch with Sofia that week.
Monday- nobody had lunch with Sofia, and she was ok with it because she got to eat school lunch. I don't know why, but this lovely girl loves school lunch.
Tuesday- my mom and I had lunch with Sofia.
Wednesday- my sister in law Katie and her kids had lunch with Sofia and I heard all about it when Sofia came home. She was so happy Aunt Kiki went to have lunch with her. She loves Brayden (they're pretty much best friends) and Sofia kept saying "I can't believe Brayden went to my school!!"
Thursday- Nana had lunch with Sofia! Not only that, but she spent some recess time with her too!! Sofia was just amazed and Brian and I felt extremely thankful to mom.
All I can say is Thank You for making Sofia feel so special!

Sofia had to take a poster about herself- it's a cute poster and it is now hanging in her room.

Freedom Bear had so much fun with Sofia. She had a hard time saying good-bye. Monday we took him to dance/tumbling class. Tuesday and Wednesday we took him to the park. Thursday we all went to Coldstone and Friday he had to go back to Mrs. Downs...

Now we'll wait and see when she gets to be Star Student in 1st grade... Sofia just loves being Star Student.

Hazel's first time wearing a crown.

First she was like "uhhh, mom what are you holding?"
"a crown? no mom. I'm not going to wear it."
"leave me alone mom. I just want to play with my sister earrings."
"fine. I guess I can wear the crown."
"just kidding. I don't want it."
 "ok, maybe I do."
"What's that mom? I look beautiful??!! Ok! I will wear the crown."

New addition to our family in 2013!

Yes, we did add a new member to our family in 2013! This time it was a car. Brian and I have been wanting a "new" car for the longest time. I wanted (want) a Yukon or an Escalade, but I got something else instead. Since we have a house payment and Brian is saving up for Grad School, we knew we had to pay cash for a car. So we needed something in our budget. After weeks and weeks of searching it came down to two choices- a car or a mid size SUV. Brian and I want to add on to our family by 2015 {and that's no secret} so really we needed an SUV and today we went to go see a Toyota Highlander we've been looking into buying. Oh, and we also went to check out some Mercedes Benz.. and let me tell you, Brian wants one. He wants one bad! And truth is so do I... I was made to drive a Mercedes....

After playing around with the Mercedes Benz we drove off in our "new" Toyota Highlander. We love it. It's the perfect size of SUV for us and we got a super HOT deal on it.Sofia and Hazel love their new car too. We're ready to make new memories with our little Highlander!
