Patiently waiting for summer.

There are 4 weeks left of school. And we already know that there will be a lot going on this summer. The other night for FHE we made a list of the things we wanted to do this summer. We only wrote "realistic" things. Sofia really wanted me to write down Paris because she's never been to Paris and her life dream is to go to Paris. {She has a lot of life dreams! Dream on girl, the world is yours, make your dreams come true} Yes my 5 year old is very unique, always coming up with silly ideas. I told her if she learns French I would take her to Paris someday and she said to me "I already know French, bonjour!!"

Here is a list of the things we will be doing:
  • Sofia's dance recital
  • Miguel's farewell {he's going on a mission!}
  • Hazel's first birthday party
  • BBQ
  • Sleeping in
  • Fireworks
  • Buying food {Sofia said it was important to buy food over summer even if she's not going to school}
  • Summer Movie Fun- Tuesdays at San Tan Mall
  • Swimming, lots of swimming. We will try to go to Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center as much as we can. It's so close to our house and the entrance fee is practically free!
  • Smores
  • Cabin- my in laws have a cabin and Sofia is in love with it. She thinks it's OUR cabin- someone really needs a reality check.
  • Picnics
Now here's the list of what we're hoping happens this summer:
  • The beach
  • Legoland
  • The lake
Sofia and I have been putting money in our summer envelope and I think we just have enough to go on a nice family get away. Arizona gets way too hot during the summer I know my girls and my handsome man will want to go to the beach... We really don't know where we'll go this summer, maybe San Diego..  Maybe? We have 4 more weeks to save up and really plan where we'll go this summer. But we are really thinking San Diego, so if you've been there or you're familiar with the are please give us some ideas. Thanks!

Oh, and I want to know what are YOU doing this summer??

Hazel loves the sink.

Hazel loves bath time. I think it's her favorite part of the day.
Her bath time is usually at night, but we have exceptions every now and then.
Like on Saturday for example- my mom came over and fed Hazel some watermelon.
Hazel was eating the watermelon a little bit too fast. She was so sticky that my mom had no other option than to bath the 20lb beauty. Hazel LOVED it.

Thank you Dowewita!

Father Daughter Formal Dance- 2013

Brian and Sofia attended their first Father Daughter Formal Dance. Our ward has a father daughter activity annually and this year they had a formal theme. The girls sure felt they were going to a ball!
 {These pictures were taken from my ward's Relief Society Facebook Page}

Before Sofia left to the dance she said "I'm nervous to go to the dance with the most handsome dad ever."
When Brian came home he said he was glad he only had to go with one girl. There were a few dads that showed up to the dance with 3 or more girls.. I reminded him we could end up like them, 3 or 4 girls.. His smile soon went away hahaha. Plus, he will be taking Hazel when she's old enough, so there you go Brian, in a few years you will be attending this dance with 2 girls. Two very cute adorable girls.

Oh here's a picture of the set up. Yes the girls really did go to a ball :)

Oh and these are the best pictures of all- can you see the happiness in Sofia's face? She sure loves her dad.
I was told by some sisters in my ward that saw the pictures that they loved Sofia's face and to save these pictures for Sofia's wedding video. Oh, I will. I'm sure this night is going down as one of Sofia's favorite night of all times.

By the way, today at church I had so many people tell me Brian and Sofia got some sweet moves, specially my husband. My white boy can dance... Not to mention, the bow tie. Brian is a classy guy, we got so many compliments on the bow tie lol.
Go #TeamMortensen

I love my ward and I am so thankful for the Primary Presidency for making this dance happen. Girls need special bonding with their dad's and this was just perfect!

Shamrock Farms Ward Ice Cream Social 2013

Happy Sunday!

Shamrock Estates Community Party 2013

We live in the best neighborhood in Gilbert. True story because we totally do!
Not to make anyone out there jealous or anything but Shamrock Estates really is the best.
Awesome parks, multicultural neighborhood, CTA Freedom, and located in one of the best areas in Gilbert- yes, this neighborhood has it all.
Yesterday the HOA organized their Shamrock Estates Annual "Shindig" and it was awesome.
Pizza, hot dogs, cotton candy, mini gold, water slides, raffle prizes, photo booths... I'm glad this neighborhood gives back to the residents.
Of course, we had awesome company- The Beall's and my sister in law Katie with her two kids.
Sofia, Brayden, and Kamber couldn't get enough of the water slides! They had so much fun all afternoon.

And yesterday Hazel had her first cotton candy and she didn't even like it. I guess it runs in the family because Sofia and I don't like it either.

Here are some pictures of Sofia in the water slides.

Sofia selling oj & donuts.

One of her life dreams came true today. She had been wanting for the longest time to have a lemonade stand. Unfortunately, I have been busy with school that I had been putting Sofia's lemonade stand on hold. Well on Tuesday I saw a sign in my neighborhood that said "community yard sale this Saturday," so I went home and cleaned out my closets.. Not only that but I asked Sofia if she was ready to have her lemonade stand. {I figured that with the community yard sale she would get more customers.} In the happiest voice ever she said "Yes!" Friday came and I had nothing done for Sofia's lemonade stand. Nothing! No cute signs, no cute cups, absolutely nothing. Friday afternoon I felt like I was letting Sofia down. I had so much homework and I was able to finish but I was tired to make "cute" things for the lemonade stand. Luckily Brian came to the rescue and took Sofia to Fry's so she could pick out donuts and juice to sell at her "stand." She was so happy. She didn't care her stand wasn't cute, or that she wasn't selling cookies or lemonade like she had planned. She was happy simply because she's a good girl and her dream was coming true. Saturday morning she woke up ready to sell her donuts and juice. My sweet Sofia made $15, $3 of them being tips.

I'm so thankful for my husband who's there to finish things when I can't. If it wasn't for him Sofia wouldn't of had her sale. I am truly blessed to have him in my life.

And I will always appreciate the people who came and bought donuts and oj from Sofia. They made her happier than what she already is!

Brian & Sofia washing mommy's car.

My super awesome husband and my adorable Sofia washed my car today.
They did an awesome job!
Sofia loves spending time with her dad, even if it is to was my car.
I appreciate them for doing this for me.

Thank you Brian & Sofia

Hazel's cheesy smile.

Hazel is the happiest baby, unless you take her inside or take food away from her, then she will growl at you.
She usually gives me some cheesy smiles as soon as she sees my phone or camera in front of her face.
I love her cheesy smiles!
