Build a Bear with Aunt Jessica

For 4 1/2 years, Sofia has been the only grandchild on my side of the family. That will change this summer, and Sofia knows it. That is why we are trying to spend as much time possible with her now. We don't want Sofia to feel left out once the baby is here, so we have decided to do things she likes because when the baby is here it will be hard to give her all the attention. My sister called early Saturday morning and asked Sofia if she wanted to go to Build a Bear. Sofia said yes, but before going she had to finish her chores {I like teaching my girl about responsibilities} Anyways, here are some pictures from our Build a Bear experience.
Sofia had a hard time choosing her bear...

She made the right choice. Sofia chose a cute puppy.
Time for stuffing the little puppy.

Choosing the outfit was so hard! Sofia had so many choices.

She sure left happy with her new friend.
Thanks Jessica!!

Like a boss.

Sofia knows how awesome her dad is. These two were meant to be father and daughter. Just check out how they ride home from conference... Gotta love'em. Sofia's favorite car in this world is the Jeep. She feels like a boss every time she rides it with the top down. She's even asked if she can keep the Jeep when she gets older. We'll see. Hopefully her love for the Jeep never goes away.

My talkative 4 year old.

Here are some funny conversations I've had with Sofia...

Sofia: I have nothing going on tomorrow. We should go hang out at the mall.
Me: I don't have money to go to the mall.
Sofia: Well (long pause) I have money, you don't have to buy anything, just watch me do all the shopping.

Sofia: Congratulations!
Me: For what?
Sofia: For having a baby in your tummy.

Me: Sofia we should practice writing on your white board.
Sofia: Let me think about it... no! {seriously, where did she get all her attitude}

Sofia: I want us to name the baby Jennifer {Sofia says Jennifoh}
Brian: Oh just like my sister Jennifer.
Sofia: You have a sister named Jennifoh?
Brian: Yes. Aunt Jenny's real name is Jennifer, but she likes being called Jenny. Where did you hear the name Jennifer?
Sofia: Ohh I made it up myself.

My favorite conversation was the one she had with Brian on Valentines Day. Brian sent me gorgeous flowers and "forgot" about getting Sofia some flowers. Sofia broke into tears for not receiving flowers. They had this conversation on the phone.

Sofia: {crying} Hi dad.
Brian: Hi Sofia. What's wrong?
Sofia: I'm really sad because you didn't send me flowers. You forgot about me on Valentines Day. I thought I was your little sweetie.
Brian: I'm going to give you your flowers in person.
Sofia: No! I wanted mine to come in the mail just like mommy's. {Then Sofia started crying more, ran upstairs and cried. Cried a lot}

Oh Sofia, you make me laugh!

Valentines Day in Pre-k

Sofia has a new favorite holiday. Valentines Day, or as Sofia would say, Valen times Day.
This year we had a great party at preschool. The kids had so many crafts, including a trip to a pottery place "Creative Hands," where the kids painted mugs. Sofia's mug was her gift for her daddy. Sofia really likes Valentines Day because she gets to give out Valentines cards, candy, but her favorite part is receiving flowers.

The kids are ready to pass out their Valentines.

Sofia loved all her cards and candy!

Saving at Kohls

I love shopping.
I also love saving.
Today I went to Kohls to buy birthday presents for my mom.
When I walked in one lady said clearance had an extra 40% off.
So I looked around.
I found 3 shirts for me all under $5. I wont be able to wear the shirts until after I have the baby, but I can wait because the shirts are just so cute.
Home decor basket under $5.
A towel for Sofia for $3.35
Washcloths for $2.39
And I bought some of my mom's presents.
Total saved was $178.24
WOW! I'm actually impressed with myself :)

21 Weeks with Baby #2

21 weeks.
More than halfway done.
In 3 weeks I will be 6 months pregnant.
I don't even believe it myself. I feel like it's going by fast.

Sofia will take a picture with me every time she can. She's so involved in this pregnancy. She tells everyone "My mom has a baby in her tummy!"
After lunch and running some errands.

My Cute Dancer

Sofia does Tap/Ballet at Artistic Motion Dance. She loves it! Today the girls started practicing their recital dance routine and let me tell you, IT WILL BE SO CUTE! When Sofia was 3 she did tumbling and jazz. I really think tumbling is her favorite, but she looks so adorable dancing. We'll probably start tumbling once she starts Kindergarten. Enjoy the pictures of my cute dancer!

Dance Recital is June 9th :)

Laundry Room.

It was April 2011 when we moved in to our new house. Brian and I bought all new appliances. I really wanted a washer and dryer like the ones my mother in law has.. Well getting a new house and buying new appliances at once was one big expense. Getting the washer and dryer I wanted was going to have to wait. Brian still bought me a really nice washer and dryer. He also promised he would make a pedestal for the washer and dryer. I think he forgot about his promise for about 8 months or so. I sent him an email of the pedestal I wanted for my washer and dryer. That same week he went and bought all the stuff for the stand. Then The Holidays came and we were crazy busy. One weekend Brian called my brother and together they started building the washer and dryer pedestal. This is what the washer and dryer looked like before the pedestal.

The boys worked so hard. I think it took them 16 hours to finish the pedestal, including the time the the stain and gloss took to dry.

Yesterday at 6 pm my pedestal was done. It looks GREAT! Brian and Miguel did an excellent job. Those boys are jut good at everything they do.

I do my laundry on Mondays. Tomorrow will my first time using the washer and dryer with my brand new pedestal. I am not done decorating my laundry room, there are some pinterest crafts I am wanting to make. I am also putting vinyl on the pedestal, one side will say darks and the the other will say whites.

Thank you Miguel and Brian! You guys did an AMAZING job!

Learning Foundations Spirit Week 2012

So last week Learning Foundations had their first Spirit Week of the school year. Monday was Pajama Day. Tuesday was Twin Day. Wednesday was Decade Day. Thursday was Impersonation Day.

Monday there were only 2 kids in the class who were wearing their pjs. Sofia was one of them.

Tuesday was twin day. Sofia had a twin. She just never showed up.
Wednesday was decade day. We did the 80s. Sofia looked super cute and got many compliments on her pettiskirt.

Thursday was impersonation day. Sofia dressed up like Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place. Unfortunately I forgot my camera that day. She wore jeggins with a cardigan. Then she had a "wand" sticking out of her boot. Everyone in school totally knew who she was. Funny. I so regret not taking my camera. There's more spirit weeks to come. This was just the beginning.

Halfway done with baby #2.

As of today I am 20 weeks and 2 days. I am halfway done! And if I have this baby at 37 weeks just like I did with Sofia then I am more than halfway done. Yes!! This pregnancy is going by fast. Really fast. Maybe it feels this way because I'm not that "big" yet. Maybe once I get really big I will think my pregnancy is going by slow. But as for right now I am going to enjoy the little belly. Anyways, I realized I am at 5 months and I have NOTHING for this baby. Nothing. I spend hours on pinterest looking at ideas for the baby's nursery. I want something super cute. I have a hard time choosing the baby's bedding. Here are the 2 options. I love both. The first one is pink, blue, and a little bit of green. The second one is light pink, dark pink, and gray. Both bedding collections are from Babies R Us new collections so they just barely came out. I really want to put a vinyl tree on one wall of the baby's nursery with flowers and birds. Before I do any of that I need to get the baby's furniture.. So much to do!

Anyways, my husband finally decided to start saying the names he likes. He likes Meredith and Mackenzie. I'm not too crazy about those names. I really like Talia. So I'm thinking our baby will have no name until she's born. We have to see who she looks like the most so we can name her. If she has dark hair I don't want to name her Meredith or Mackenzie. And if she's a blonde little girl then I don't want to name her Talia. With Sofia, I knew her name was going to be Sofia Chanel and I loved it. So we have a name, a family name we both like- Hazel. Now the middle name is a complete different story. Sofia's middle name is after the world's most luxurious brand, Chanel. For this baby I like Grace. Sounds so feminine and beautiful. Talia Grace and Hazel Grace both sound really good. But my hubby is not agreeing with me. Why is naming a baby so hard? Sofia and I keep calling the baby Talia. Brian calls the baby a different name every week.

Ok, now it's time to say the funny facts about the baby
  • Loves listening to Justin Beiber! Yes, this girl will be just like Sofia. Both will have the Bieber fever. The baby has it already and she's not even born. Every time we listen to a Justin Beiber song, the baby moves a lot- she must be dancing.
  • Loves Sofia. She loves Sofia a lot. And Sofia loves her back. Every night before Sofia goes to sleep she rubs my tummy and tells stories to the baby. The baby will respond by kicking my tummy and she moves a lot too. The baby really likes having Sofia around. I am so glad they already have a sister bond.
  • She is very persistent. Whenever I work out she makes the weirdest move, kinda like telling me "Woman, STOP MOVING AND LET ME SLEEP!" Because once I'm done working out she stays still and pretends nothing has happened. Did I also mention she refused to show her "sex" for both ultrasound appointments? Would not uncross her legs. At the second appointment we had to get 2 people come take a look. One had one shot and said "I'm thinking it's a girl, but I'm not 100% sure." Even though we are not 100% sure we are having a girl, I think it's a girl. A very persistent one too. Two very persistent girls at home- Brian we are going to have fun!
  • Last but not least, she loves her dad. Both my girls have the same favorite person- Brian. It's ok, he's a great person to love.

As for me, there are 2 things that terrify me. Stretch marks and the epidural. With Sofia I got lucky. Really lucky because I only got 2 stretch marks and they aren't noticeable. I did get the epidural though. With this one I'm scared of getting a lot of stretch marks. And also I'm scared of getting the epidural. I hate needles. Hopefully I do good. Well I have less than 20 weeks to hold my baby. Less than 20 weeks to get "ready" and enjoy having a newborn again.
