Driving buddies.

On Saturday Sofia asked me if we could save our white Nissan Altima for her to drive when she's in high school. Brian and I just looked at each other and told her yes. She started telling me the driving rules:
-No texting and driving
-No eating and driving
-No doing make up while driving
-Have a driver's license

I told her those were all good driving rules. Then I told her the family rule is for her to drive her siblings to places whenever I can't. She thought that was a wonderful idea and started naming places Hazel might want to go to:
- Dowewita's and Nana's House
- Chick fil a
- Disney Store
-Walmart
-Target
-The park

The list went on and on.. Even though they are 4 years apart they are best friends. Sofia is always looking after Hazel and when I told her she had to drive Hazel around she got happy. She even said "That's what big sisters are for!"

Great Grandma

Today my grandma went back to Mexico (sad day), and she left super happy because she met our newest addition- Hazel. Hazel is her 3rd great grandchild and she fell in love with her. And Hazel loved my grandma too! She smiled at her all the time and wanted to be held by her always. I feel so sad whenever my grandma goes back to Mexico. Growing up I always wanted to have my grandma close to me. All my friends would talk about going to their grandma's house and I never really had that. And now that I'm 23 I want my grandma with me. I love hearing her advice and her stories. My grandma's favorite thing to do when she's visiting is to go to yard sales and for me, it was not hard getting up early on Saturdays because I wanted to make my grandma feel special by doing what she likes most. These past 2 weeks she made each of us our favorite meal and it was the BEST! I hope I go to Mexico soon to visit her.

Brian is the baby.

Brian is the baby in his family and I'm the oldest in mine.
One of my friends had this on her facebook wall and I just thought of Brian.
Yes, he has said this before...
But guess what? I still love being the oldest!

A much needed date night.

I love spending time with my sweet husband. He makes me laugh all the time. He can be random at times but he's fun.. and I love him. On Valentine's Day we had lunch together and dinner as a family. And on the 15th we went on an awesome date.
First we went to Joe's Farm Grill which we both love.
Then we went ice skating and oh my gosh is Brian good at it.
Seriously who just gets on the ice and starts skating like a pro? Brian.
Why does he have to be so good at everything?
I'm ok at ice skating. I was doing so good until I fell. Luckily no one got it on video.
This date night will go down in history as one of the best.

Time can stop right about now.

I love watching my baby sleep. She's so perfect, so beautiful, so chubby.. sigh.. I want to hit pause and live each moment and enjoy every second with this little chunky girl.

Dowewita is getting pampered.

Sofia loves going to my mom's house and Hazel is following those same footsteps. Sofia loves my mom because she is a fun grandma. When Sofia was learning to talk, my mom said she didn't want to be called grandma/abuela because that made her feel old. (my mom is not old at all) So Brian and I tried teaching Sofia to say "abuelita." And she did learn, she would say "dowewita." And now my mom is better known as "dowewita." I can write so many stories about my mom and Sofia.... Sofia loves doing hair and make up, so I will write those stories.

When Sofia was 3, she was OBSESSED with The Little Mermaid. We watched that movie every day. Sofia had every song memorized. Brian bought her a Little Mermaid swim suit and Sofia would wear it to the park, the mall, story time, grandma's house.. Sofia was so obsessed with The Little Mermaid she began to feel sad when she realized she didn't have red hair like Ariel... One day I dropped off Sofia at my mom's house. They were watching TV together when my mom fell asleep on the couch. (don't worry, they were not home alone, my dad was home too. probably asleep too!) Sofia was doing my mom's hair and remembered there was a red sharpie somewhere around the house. She found the red sharpie and started "coloring" my mom's hair and head. So my mom wakes up from her nap and goes to the bathroom and when she turned the light on and saw her head was painted red she said she freaked out! She thought she was bleeding from her head, hahahaha. Then Sofia came to her and said "Dowewita! You look like Ariel!! You have red hair!" Oh we still laugh about this. My mom now hides sharpies whenever Sofia goes to her house.

Now the make up story.. Sofia has a bag of make up at my mom's house and asked my mom if she could do her make up. My mom laid on the couch and Sofia began her work. My mom can be very forgetful of things and forgot she had make up done by a 4 year old. She began making dinner, doing laundry, and cleaning around her house. Totally forgot she had red lipstick all around her mouth, bright purple eyeshadow and hot pink blush. My mom's neighbor came later that day to invite her to a party and when my mom opened the door she said her neighbor just stared at her giving her a weird look. After her neighbor left my mom kept doing housework and went to clean her bathroom. When she saw herself in the mirror she just laughed. Now wonder her neighbor looked at her weird, my mother looked like a clown...

Last week I took these pictures of Sofia doing my mom's nails. I guess my mom just likes the randomness beauty Sofia brings to her life.

Rewarding Sofia

Sofia gives me a lot of reasons to feel proud of her.
She has a spelling quiz every Friday and a math assessment on Thursday.
For the first time in kindergarten she got 100% on both.
She usually comes home with a 100% in math but not with spelling.
She was always getting a 14/15 because she would get one word wrong by just being one letter short.
When she saw her grade she was so happy and couldn't believe her grade.
I'm so proud of her!

Her reward was a pedicure. Keep up the good work Sofia!

Hazel taking steps

Hazel army crawled at 4 months. At 5 months she was officially crawling, belly off the floor like a big girl. When she was 6 months she started pulling herself up and loved to stand. This past month (7 months) she learned to crawled up the stairs and to "dance." She still loves to stand and this past week she has been taking steps. Sofia walked at 9 months and I think Hazel will too ;)

Soccer Life

Back in 2009 Brian played soccer all the time. He would get home from work and we would go to the park to play soccer. Sofia & I loved it. We would go to a park near our Boston house and we would be there until the sun went down. *sigh* those days were just so perfect. Then Brian started a team. His friends would drive to "the park" and they would play soccer. I would jog around the park and Sofia would just play. Many times the sprinklers went off and we would still play and have fun. HOA heard people who didn't live in that neighborhood were playing on the field so they took the nets down. Then the park days ended, but the indoor games started :)

The first time the boys played indoor soccer they took 2nd place. I remember going to every game. It seriously was the best. The boys wanted to play again so LVM sponsored them and the 2nd time they played the boys came home with 1st place. I wish I had pictures of that championship game. All I remember is the trophy being Sofia's size and me running to the field to congratulate my husband. Well, time passed and most of the boys in this picture got married and moved, therefore the team "disappeared." We grew up, bought a house and the indoor soccer games ended...

Until last night. Brian is playing Monday nights at Barney Sports Complex. Now he has 3 girls who cheer him on and get super crazy every time he scores and get super angry every time he gets hurt. Soccer is our life. Last night brought back so many wonderful memories of being a newlywed and going to my husband's games. Time has flown by, but I'm sure there are many more wonderful memories to come.
