Day 2: I'm Thankful for the Girl

I give thanks for her everyday. She's my world. I couldn't imagine life without her. Sofia is full of life, joy, and dreams. She has a wonderful imagination- a very wonderful imagination. Sofia is very loving and friendly. She makes me want to be a better person, because all I want to do is be a good example for her. She has given me many reasons to never give up. Sofia makes my world more interesting. She says the funniest things, wears silly outfits, sings every song, plays every game, she's such a princess and can be "high maintenance." Some girls are just born with glitter in their veins, Sofia is one of those girls. I am thankful for every second she's made me laugh, cry, love, and learn.

Day 1: I'm Thankful for my husband

20 days until Thanksgiving. This post is the beginning to the top 20 things I'm very thankful for. Day 1- The husband. I love my handsome husband and everything he does for me. He is very caring, loving, sweet, and a great provider. He makes it possible for me to be a stay at home mother and a full time student. Brian is very supportive and I really like that about him. I love the way he loves me {I'm a lucky girl} Being married to him is a blessing, and I am very thankful for it.

The Girl in the Pink Boots

We went to our friend John's wedding reception. The wedding reception was fun, and it was a Western theme. I wanted Sofia to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt- it's kinda cold and it went perfect with the theme, but Sofia said "No, ladies wear dresses to receptions." There was no way of convincing Sofia, so I gave in and let her wear a dress. I would say 90% of the girls at the reception were in jeans {the invitation said casual dress}, but there was only one little girl with a pink dress, a denim jacket, and pink boots.

At the reception I saw many friends from high school, and a lot of people I haven't seen in a very long time. Of course they asked for my baby- what baby? I don't have a baby. She's 4. So I said "You see the one in the pink boots, yup the one dancing over there, that one is Sofia"
Since we can't have a horse, Sofia uses every opportunity she gets to ride one. Oh yeah, the girl in the pink boots is ADORABLE!
The day Sofia outgrows the boots will be a very sad day. I will save these boots, keep them like a treasure because they will always remind me of the cute little girl in the pink boots.
"These boots were made for dancing"

Primary Progam 2010

Sofia's first primary performance was October 30th, 2011.
I ♥ my little sunbeam.

We Rock!!

A couple weeks ago we went to Queen Creek Performing Arts Center's Camp Rock. This must be Sofia's fourth or fifth play. During some of the songs Sofia was dancing with the performers. Ever since I was in The Wizard of Oz, Sofia has had this urge of wanting to be in a play. She's not old enough yet. But as soon as she turns 7 she will be trying out for a play. So we have 3 years to prepare Sofia in everything we can which means- dance lessons, tumbling, and maybe even performing classes. Sofia loves performing, all she needs is the stage.

We ended October the right way.

October went by so fast! We had so many celebrations and they were all wonderful. I think this year Sofia broke a record, she attended 3 trunk-or-treats. But we also learned something about us- we do NOT like chili. Now we now that Chili is a Trunk-or-Treat tradition, so next year we will just skip that part. Anyways, Sofia was a little heart broken at first about her Halloween costume. She really wanted to be Rapunzel or Ariel, but after all the comments she got from random people, I think she finally liked being the Spanish Princess/Flamenco Dancer.

At our ward trunk-or-treat many people told Sofia that her costume went perfect with her. I agree. The skin, the hair, the eyes- it's in her! I think she looked really cute.

On Halloween we went to Jenny's Halloween Party. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Jenny went all out with this party! The food, the drinks, the games, the decorations, everything was amazing. Thanks Jenny for the memories. I will always remember this Halloween party, and hopefully this becomes a tradition.

So for Halloween we did go trick or treating. It's was our first Halloween in our new neighborhood. We only went for 40 minutes, but we went. There were some houses and kids that scared Sofia- specially a boy who had on the Scream mask. Other than being scared Sofia had a great time. She would knock the door and before people opened she would scream "TRICK OR TREAT!" It was funny. We came home around 7 and I told Sofia it was her turn to give out candy. She loved it. I asked her what she liked better, to give or to receive. She said both. Oh one funny story, this big group of kids came to our house, I'm going to guess they were 11 or 12. Anyways, Sofia tells them to pick out their favorite candy and then she said "But only pick one, because if you get more than one the scary witch will get you." The boys laughed so hard!!! Oh Sofia you make me laugh. We gave out candy until 8:30 and then it was time to get ready for bed. Next year will be a complete different story- I'm sure it will but I am so glad that Halloween 2010 was a success!

Our True Identity

I love this message, it is very uplifting. I think I listen to this message at least 5 times a week. I must have it memorized by now because the message of this video gives me comfort, and the days I listen to it I feel like I have a better day because I am reminded of who I am and where I come from. Like President Uchtdorf said, "Too many go about their lives thinking they are of little worth, in reality, they are elegant and eternal creatures of infinite value with potential beyond imagination." This message is so powerful and important, not only for the youth, but for everyone. And remember "When you look at your reflection, you will be able to see beyond imperfections and self-doubts and recognize who you truly are: glorious sons and daughters of the Almighty God"

I must be doing something right.

Lately we've been going to the park everyday. The weather is finally getting perfect! So we were at the park and Sofia starts playing on the monkey bars. Then she comes to me and shows me a game she does in school with her friends Destiny and Alyssa. So I said to her "Destiny and Alyssa must your best friends." Sofia stopped and looked at me. "Oh no mom. I don't have any best friends in school, I only have one best friend in the whole world." I got a little confused. Sofia is super friendly, and the way she said she only had one best friend really confused me. I was a little worried because I want my girl to have friends. So I had to ask and find out who her best friend in the whole world was. "Do I know who your best friend is?" Sofia looks at me but doesn't stop playing and says "You are my best friend in the whole world." My heart melted. I love my girl- I learn from her everyday. I promised myself to be the best mom and friend for Sofia. And the more I think about it, I do too only have one best friend- Sofia.

A day with Bo

Sofia has a friend named Border aka Bo. Bo is barely 3 years old but he is the size of a 5 year old- maybe because both his parents are over 6 feet tall. Anyways, Friday we hung out with Bo. It was fun. He's a cute kid, and Sofia really likes being around him.
While walking around the mall, we passed by Chanel. I HAD to take a picture of Sofia. I know in the future she will like her middle name, but as for right now she hates it.

It was almost time to start heading to Barnes & Noble. We wanted to be a little early in order to get good spots for story time.

My pretty girl in the morning

Doesn't she look cute?

The prettiest cowgirl/pirate/church girl I've ever seen

As soon as we came home from church Sofia ran to her room to get her Treasure Box {from Bray's party}. While she went up to her room I made her lunch. I called her and she said "I'm changing!" Then I went upstairs to get my flip flops and I found a cowgirl/pirate/church girl. Yes, with Sofia you never know what you're going to get. Love it! Wouldn't change her randomness for anything in world...

Reuse and Recycle

I have a younger sister. Her name is Jessica. She's 2 1/2 years younger than me. When we were little girls, Jessica used my hand-me-downs. Not everything though. Maybe the cute dresses, skirts, and shirts- and hopefully the day she gets married she can use my wedding dress.... Anyways when we were little we both "hated" using each others clothes. I remember Jessica complaining about wearing my old stuff and I would complain when she would wear my stuff. It got worse when we were in high school. But then when I got married and moved out, I missed Jessica borrowing my clothes all the time, and I missed it because I borrowed hers too. I think that's a sister rule- using your sister's clothes. Well Sofia doesn't have sisters (0r brothers) so I don't think she will ever live through this, which is sad. Jessica and I look back to those days when we would fight over a shirt or a dress and now we laugh about it. Those were some good times. Sofia is 4 years old and if I was to have a baby next year (I said "if") there would already be a 5 year gap. If she has a sister I don't think Sofia's clothes would be in style by the time her sister can wear them. If she has a brother, there is NO WAY her brother would ever wear her clothes. Luckily, Sofia has cousins. Sofia is 2 1/2 years older than Kamber, Gwen, and Della.

This picture is from Halloween 2009. Sofia had turned two in September. That year I remember I wanted her to be a ladybug. I was so lazy I never made it to Party City on time to get Sofia's ladybug costume. Her size was the first one to sell out. So then I thought- I can just order the costume online. A couple days away from Halloween I went to Wal Mart and most of the costumes were on sale- like 50% off. There was a costume that totally said SOFIA all over it. A Pirate costume. So I bought it and Sofia loved it.

She loved her Pirate costume so much, she wore it everyday for 2 months after Halloween. Our old neighbor Lisa laughed because Sofia refused to wear anything else. She wore her costume to the park, the store, the mall, wiggle worms, her grandma's house, the only place she didn't wear it to was to church. Until one day, we hid her costume (it was time for her to wear something else). And the costume was never used again. Until this Saturday.
My beautiful niece Kamber wore the Pirate costume to her brother's Pirate Party. Seeing Kamber in the pirate costume brought back so many memories of my little Sofia being so cute in her costume. Sofia was 2 years old and Kamber is 18 months.

I know that some of Sofia's things will relive and have different experiences with her cousins. And I love it!
